Four questions checked against Fin-Boost's published criteria, per product. No application started.
Fin-Boost publishes its licence, its cost per $100 and a worked example on every page, which is more than most payday lenders show.
Government benefits and social assistance are excluded from the $2,200 monthly income floor. A pension counts toward it, so retirement income is treated as income rather than a benefit.
Repayment is split into installments due on your paydays, over a term of 42 to 62 days. The schedule assumes pay arriving once or twice a month, so a weekly pay cycle is outside what the product is built for.
Through Smarter Loans, $200 to $1,500. Fin-Boost advertises payday loans from $100 on its own site; applications we send start at $200. The loan is repaid in installments over a term of 42 to 62 days, at least three installments, or at least two if you are paid monthly.
Fin-Boost charges $14 per $100 lent, stated the same way on its home page, loan page, FAQ and disclosure page, with no application fee and no other charges before the first installment. Its own worked example is a $300 loan over 42 days repaid in three installments of $114: $42 to borrow, $342 owing in total, an annual percentage rate of 170.56 percent. A payday loan is high cost credit.
You must live in Alberta and be 18 or older, and you connect your bank account during the application so Fin-Boost can confirm the account and your paydays. Applications sent through Smarter Loans also need net income of at least $2,200 a month, paid once or twice a month. Fin-Boost says it weighs your overall situation rather than your credit score alone, and invites applicants with less than perfect credit.
No. Government benefits and social assistance are excluded from the $2,200 monthly floor that applies to applications sent through Smarter Loans. A pension does count, so retirement income is treated as income rather than as a benefit. If benefits are your main income, this is not the right lender to apply to.
Fin-Boost sends funds by Interac e-Transfer or bank transfer once your agreement is signed and checked by its team, and emails you when the money reaches your account. It does not publish a guaranteed funding time. Applications are accepted at any hour and the contact centre is open Monday to Sunday, 8:00 to 20:00.
