Alberta is not among the four provinces where TransUnion keeps a bankruptcy on file for seven years after discharge; the standard six applies, according to the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada.
What this means if you are borrowing in Alberta
If your request is around $2,500 and your credit is fair, you are the typical Alberta applicant and every lender on the Alberta personal loans page underwrites that file daily. Alberta's larger low-credit share means the province is well served by lenders that underwrite on income; our guide to getting a personal loan with bad credit covers what they check instead of the score. For businesses, the business loans page compares lenders that fund at the scale Alberta asks for.
